Popular singer Konokchampa has expressed deep concern over the deteriorating health of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, calling for prayers on her behalf. In two separate social media posts, the artist reflected on Khaleda Zia’s lifelong struggles and her enduring courage, generating widespread discussion online.
In one post, Konokchampa wrote, “Across the country, Khaleda Zia has millions of children,” highlighting her connection with the nation.
On Monday (1 December), he posted a brief message stating, “Fi Amanillah! National leader Begum Khaleda Zia has been placed on ventilator support in the ICU. Praying for Allah’s special mercy! Everyone, please pray.” The post prompted an outpouring of prayers and well-wishes from followers.
Earlier, in a longer post, Konokchampa reflected on Khaleda Zia’s political life, personal struggles, and the hardships she faced during imprisonment. He wrote that from enduring widowhood at a young age following Ziaur Rahman’s martyrdom, to arrests during critical political periods, facing false charges, the threat of slow poisoning, and the fear of death—through it all, Khaleda Zia remained steadfast and courageous.
He also praised her for prioritizing the welfare of the nation over personal concerns, such as refraining from traveling abroad for advanced treatment despite severe illness, or restraining from visiting an ailing child to focus on national responsibilities. “She is not just a mother to her children; she is the mother of millions across the country,” Konokchampa wrote.
He concluded his message by praying for Khaleda Zia’s long life as the ‘mother of democracy’ in Bangladesh and seeking divine guidance to witness a significant political victory for the BNP.
