On the third day of appeal hearings, the Election Commission (EC) declared the candidacy of 41 individuals as valid.
The hearing took place on Monday (January 12) as part of the appeals filed against the decisions of Returning Officers regarding the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
The hearings were held at the auditorium of the Election Commission building in Agargaon and will continue until January 18.
According to EC sources, a total of 70 appeals were heard on the third day. After the hearings, the candidacy of 41 applicants was approved, 23 were rejected, 5 were kept pending, and 1 candidate withdrew their candidacy.
Earlier, over the first two days (Saturday and Sunday), 132 appeals were heard, resulting in 109 candidates being reinstated into the electoral race.
A total of 645 appeals were filed with the Election Commission by aggrieved candidates against the decisions of the Returning Officers regarding the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers. The Commission will complete the hearings and decisions on these appeals by January 18.
