Two Killed, Eight Injured in Shooting at US University

At least two people were killed and eight others seriously injured in a shooting at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, on Saturday night (13 December), according to Reuters.

The attack took place at the university’s Barus and Holley Engineering Building during an examination period, Providence Mayor Brett Smiley told Reuters. Police are searching for a male suspect dressed in black. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the victims were students of the university.

Reuters reported that Brown University is located in the College Hill neighbourhood of Providence and has a campus comprising more than 100 buildings, including lecture halls, research facilities and residential halls.

US President Donald Trump described the incident as “horrific.” Following the shooting, officials from the FBI and other federal agencies arrived at the scene. No arrests have been made so far, according to authorities.
